The mission of the St. Louis, Missouri non-profit organization known as Pruitt-Igoe Historical, Accounting and Compensation Truth Seeking (PHACTS), is to pursue the truth about early 1950s and early 1960s U. S. military-sponsored secret experiments in and around the Pruitt-Igoe neighborhood, wherein the residents were repeatedly exposed to hazardous chemicals without their knowledge. PHACTS will pursue accountability for the physical and psychological harms experienced by the Pruitt-Igoe area residents from the deceptive experiments performed through a partnership of U. S. governmental agencies, contractors, academics and officials. Composed of a group of former residents, descendants and allies of the former Pruitt-Igoe public housing complex, PHACTS endeavors to hold powerful actors accountable to the broader community by doggedly pursuing the truth and insisting that records be made public. PHACTS was incorporated in 2023 as a non-profit organization and was granted 501c3 status in august 2024.
