PHACTS is partnering with St. Louis Arts Chamber of Commerce in a new initiative to honor the Pruitt-Igoe legacy. A group of artists will be invited to compete in designing a public art memorial for the site (near 20th and Cass) — a permanent tribute to reflect the true human dimensions of Pruitt-Igoe, beyond the headlines and the demolition footage. To ensure that the memorial speaks authentically to those whose lives were shaped by this place, we are asking former residents to share their memories, perspectives, and hopes for how Pruitt-Igoe should be remembered. We invite you to fill out the survey below to help us inform the artists and future grant funders about your personal Pruitt-Igoe experiences.
